Keeping track of expenses is one of the big chores of any self-employed person (or anyone that runs a small business, for that matter). Stacks of receipts accumulate and there's the awful prospect of recording and categorizing these as tax time nears.
To alleviate this, Outright.com has just added tight integration with Shoeboxed, another web-based application that scans in receipts and creates expense transactions from them. This means that paper receipts can be turned directly into business deductions. If you really can't stand all the paperwork associated with business finances, this represents a slick option to automate a big chunk of your record keeping.
Getting started is super-easy. From the Expenses tab in Outright, just click the "Synchronize your Outright account..." link, which will take you to the Shoeboxed settings screen (see below.) From there, click the "set up now" button, enter your Shoeboxed login and password and then...well, that's all there is. Your expense transactions and receipts from Shoeboxed will automatically update - and do so every night from then on.
Not only will your expenses information show up automatically and increase your deductions, but you can click to view each receipt right from within Outright. Enjoy!
